During the exam, your dentist will look for signs of problems with your teeth and gums. A dental X-ray will help the dentist spot tooth decay and gum disease that is not visible to the eye. When a problem is detected early, the treatment is easier, less expensive, and has a much better long-term prognosis. If a problem is found, your dentist can make treatment recommendations.
